Our names are Jo and Thane and we love books. One day, we were inspired to create artwork from salvaged books, grounding ourselves in their stories. Each art piece consists of many folded pages of books. In the process we have discovered that folding paper had its relative origins in Buddhism and the mindfulness brought about by this modality of art, activating both the left and right side of our brains, bringing about wise mind.
We would like to share with the world our bespoke creations brought upon through our adventure as it has been a treat to meditate this way and at the same time make great looking art. Each piece is uniquely made. Each book is individually cut and folded. No single art piece is the same. Each piece is made with the intention to bring peace and love and wholeness-ness to your home.
We feel that for example, if a heart (symbolizing openness, affection, connection, and calm) was in your home hanging on a wall and you witnessed it on a daily basis, in our opinion, this could psychologically calm and center you. To be your mini satellite, which whenever looked at consciously or unconsciously would inspire a bit of happiness in your day, as they do for us.
